Through the Ages

Through the Ages is a unique cross-generational residency. Young Theaterworks’ Teaching Artists help students develop dramatic writing and communication skills. Further mentored by our Guest Artists (mid-career professional writers), students interview seniors at a nearby senior center or residence and then create a new theaterwork based on these seniors' stories. Through the Ages builds literacy and helps students and seniors transcend generational and cultural divides. Together they discover commonalities as students develop a stewardship of the seniors' stories. This program culminates with 2 public performances by professional actors and students: one at the senior center for other seniors and their families, and one in a small professional theater where the public can witness the students' creative mettle in a professional context.
