I am excited to welcome you to the Showing Our Age Blog. As a caregiver I had many anxious moments about what my Mom was doing and how she was doing and made many phone calls when I though something might be going wrong. I appreciate and understand how difficult it is to be responsible for a person who for so long was responsible for you!

Time has a way of changing your perspective and appreciating life. Many years ago, I was thrust into the position of being a caregiver to my mom. I wasn’t ready for any of it, physically or emotionally. But I was the only one my mom could turn to in her struggles. I faced many days of worry, sadness, frustration and uncertainty. I wish I would have known of the support that is out there and would have gained so much from the stories of others. Gladly, I see that these stories (universal stories) are now on stage.

I’ve gone through different feelings and emotions about caring for my parents who are in their 70s. It’s scary to realize that their lives are at a stage where they have become dependent on me for financial, physical and emotional support. Bug, I make this my priority to take on this responsibility without any hesitation because my parents have always provided the love and support I needed . It is a stage that I wasn’t ready for so soon, but now I am more than willing to pass through it for I knew this day would come. - “All the world’s a stage” ~William Shakespeare
